Occupational Therapy with Rosalie
What is Sensory Integration?
Sensory Integration is the ability to take in, sort out, and integrate information brought in by our senses (vision, touch, sound, movement). This information helps us organize our behavior to successfully interact in the world. Children with sensory processing issues overreact or under-react to everyday life experiences often causing heartache in families struggling to understand their child's behavior. Simple actives like dressing, eating, and just getting the car can become major challenges. These sensory processing issues are often misunderstood as "inappropriate" or "behavioral problems." It is my role as a Occupational Therapy to evaluate, educate and provide treatment options including strategies to help children and their families handle sensory challenges at home and in school.
